There is no indication of the severe limitations in the product description but, upon receiving the converter, the warning label on the converter says, 'Use with Irons - Steamers - Hair Dryers. Warning: Converter should only be used with heat producing appliances whose rating is 50 watts to 1875 watts. DO NOT USE WITH POWER TOOLS, OR ELECTRONIC CIRCUITRY (I.e.
Computers, Curling Irons or Hair Straighteners, Battery Chargers, Audio/Video Equipment, etc.)' The 1875 watt converter is practically useless. On the bright side, one of the connectors which came with the converter allows my computer power supply to fit into a European outlet and my computer power supply is rated 110V to 240V.
It's deceptive to not disclose the limitations of this product prior to purchase.

I guys, well after all the reading and researching I just realized I didn't ask anyone about the required adaptor or converter for hair dryer, and curling iron? I am not taking my laptop so I dont need to be concerned there. I have read many sites and have received different answers.
Some say u need both, some say u only need one, some say you don't need any as most new resorts have the right plugs, and voltage. Is there someone out there who has been to the Royal and KNOWS FOR SURE WHAT I NEED TO BUY?
SOMEONE PREF IN CANADA who can tell me where to get it too? There are 4 of us going so I don't want to buy the wrong things, as I will need to buy 2 of each.
PLUS WE ARE WOMEN AND OUR HAIR MEANS EVERYTHING HAHA. THIS IS #1 PRIOIRTY!!!!!!!! HELPPPPPPPPPPP AS WE LEAVE LATE TONITE AND NEED TO GO BUY THIS LAST ITEM. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE Karen:) (very very excited). An adapter simply changes the type of plug your particular device has, to the type used by the country you are visiting. Basically, your flat Canadian prongs to the round Cuban ones.
It doesn't change the voltage of the device. A converter, changes the input voltage coming out of the plug. In this case 220 VAC in would get converted to the 110 VAC required by your Canadian device. Most electronics nowadays are flexible in that they will accept anything from 110 - 220. Battery chargers, PSP's, laptops etc.
Your 110 curling iron or hairdryer can plug into the 110 outlet that most resorts provide in the bathroom. Hope this helps and have a great trip. Well I bought 2 different kinds of converters and neither of them worked at the Royal.I believe this is an issue that should be discussed and mentioned, especially on the lovely site dedicated exclusively to the Royal Hideaway. My daughter was lucky and able to plug her curling iron into the socket in the walk in closet. But no others (without a converter) I tried all the plugs in my room NONE WOULD WORK WITH MY BLOW DRYER OR STRAIGHTER. Even with the converters. They were kind enuf to call the electrician and he loaned me a black box to use to plug in my converter then my blow dryer???
Anyone know why this was???? Would like to know and correct for next time.
